Common questions
Why doesn't my Watch complication update every minute?
watchOS limits how often complications and background apps can refresh in order to preserve battery life. ChargeGuard requests updates as frequently as watchOS permits, but the system decides the final schedule โ readings may lag by several minutes, especially when your Watch is busy or low on power. This is a platform constraint we cannot override.
It says "Phone out of range" โ what does that mean?
ChargeGuard reads your iPhone's battery over the connection between your iPhone and paired Apple Watch. If the two devices lose that connection โ too far apart, Bluetooth off, or the iPhone powered down โ the Watch can't read a fresh value and shows "Phone out of range." Bring the devices back into range and the reading resumes automatically.
How do I unlock Premium?
Open ChargeGuard on your iPhone, go to Settings โ Premium, and make the one-time purchase. It's handled by Apple through your Apple ID and unlocks on every device signed in with the same Apple ID. Switched devices or reinstalled? Use Restore Purchases on the same screen โ there's no extra charge.
Is ChargeGuard free? What's the freemium model?
Yes โ the core app is free: live battery level, charging status, time-to-full, and the Watch complication. Premium is an optional one-time purchase (not a subscription) that adds faster complication updates (where watchOS permits), advanced notifications, and customization. You can use ChargeGuard indefinitely without paying.
